(Information from Songdo IBD) The Songdo Convensia Convention Center opened for business on October 7, 2008. Its innovative design by KPF and Baum elicits thoughts of the Sydney Opera House and is already a landmark structure in Korea. The main exhibition hall has one of the largest column-free spans in Asia. Songdo Convensia now hosts international conferences, trade shows and meetings, and has become a popular filming location for commercials and music videos. Facilities include two main exhibition halls, 23 conference rooms and 3 ballrooms.
(Extract from The Atlantic) We had passed a vacant exhibition hall with a large “Tomorrow City” sign in front. In 2009, the place had apparently showcased the future—such as it was imagined then. But it was closed in 2011, our guide said, “because our predictions have been realized. Tomorrow is yesterday.”
